FlexBeam is a wearable red and near-infrared light device for targeted recovery. You strap it on over the spot you want to treat — knee, shoulder, back, hip — and run a ten-minute programme.

How a session goes

  1. 1 Strap it on with the mini band, body band or duo band, against the skin over the area you want to treat.
  2. 2 Choose one of the three preset programmes — three buttons: on/off, programme, play and pause.
  3. 3 Ten minutes per programme, and it switches itself off at the end.

The light

  • Three light pods, each with two near-infrared LEDs and one red LED — nine in all.
  • Red light at 610–650 nm, peaking at 622 nm.
  • Near-infrared at 800–850 nm, peaking at 814 nm.
  • Up to 110 mW/cm² irradiance and up to 5.5 W optical power output, pulsed between 10 and 100% duty cycle.
  • No UV light at all.

How deep it reaches

  • The red LEDs reach 0–2.5 cm — skin and the tissue just under it.
  • The near-infrared LEDs reach 0–10 cm — muscle, joints and deeper tissue.
  • Worn against the skin, so every session delivers the same dose; nothing depends on how far away you hold it.
  • That is why one placement takes ten minutes rather than a long session under a panel.

Where it goes on the body

  • Knees, shoulders, back, hips and other joints that are hard to reach.
  • The shape bends around the body, so light gets into places a flat panel cannot.
  • Three bands hold it in place: mini, body and duo.

Power and battery

  • Rechargeable lithium-ion battery in a separate pod.

  • Mains adapter takes 90–265 V and puts out 15 V, 2.5 A.

Build and safety

  • 775 g; 29.5 × 23.5 × 7.2 cm.
  • ABS-PC plastic with a silicone connecting strap.
  • A built-in fan cools the high-power LEDs.
  • Shuts down by itself if it gets too hot or draws too much current.
  • Low EMF, because it runs on its battery rather than off the mains.

Standards and travel

  • A class II FDA-exempt medical device in the United States.
  • Built to the IEC 60601 series for medical electrical equipment, along with IEC 62366-1, IEC 62304, IEC 60529 and ISO 10993 for biological safety.
  • Flying with it: the lithium battery means it belongs in your cabin bag, never in checked luggage.
